Matt Duchene signs with Dallas Stars
New contract worth $3 million for one year
Matt Duchene has signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Dallas Stars, the team announced on Tuesday. The deal includes $3 million guaranteed and an annual average salary of $3 million, per CapFriendly. Duchene, 33, is a right-wing who was previously with the Nashville Predators.
Duchene's previous contract
Duchene signed a seven-year, $56 million contract with the Predators in 2019. That deal included a $28 million signing bonus and $56 million guaranteed. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Duchene's career
Duchene was drafted third overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He has also played for the Ottawa Senators and Columbus Blue Jackets. In 843 career NHL games, Duchene has 270 goals and 355 assists. He has also represented Canada at the international level, winning a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
