Cap Friendly Contract 3 Million Aav

Matt Duchene Inks 1-Year Deal with Dallas Stars

Cap-Friendly Contract: $3 Million AAV

Nashville Sell-Off Continues

After a whirlwind offseason that saw the Nashville Predators trade away key players such as Ryan Ellis and Mikael Granlund, they have now parted ways with another veteran forward in Matt Duchene. On Monday, the 33-year-old right-winger signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Dallas Stars, as reported by sources close to the situation.

Duchene's move to Dallas reunites him with former Predators teammate and captain Jason Robertson, who recently inked a massive extension with the Stars. The Predators had acquired Duchene from the Ottawa Senators in 2019 and he quickly became a fan favorite in Nashville, recording 120 points in 213 games during his three seasons with the team.

The departure of Duchene further signals the Predators' transition into a rebuilding mode. The team has now lost several key contributors in recent months and is looking to develop younger players while accumulating draft picks for the future. Meanwhile, the Stars are hoping that Duchene can provide some much-needed offensive firepower to their lineup as they aim to compete for a playoff berth in the deep-seated Central Division.
