Swiss Forward Suffers Setback in Recovery
Swiss forward Breel Embolo has suffered a setback in his recovery from a serious knee injury, AS Monaco has announced. The 25-year-old, who has been out of action since March, was expected to return to training in the coming weeks but has now been ruled out for an indefinite period.
History of Injuries
Embolo has a history of knee injuries, having previously torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in 2016. He also missed several months of action in 2020 with a hamstring injury.
The latest setback is a major blow to Embolo and Switzerland, who are due to compete in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year. Embolo has been a key player for the Swiss national team in recent years, scoring 12 goals in 58 appearances.
